A Message from the Governing Board of MassChallenge

Dear MassChallenge Community,

As the Governing Board of MassChallenge, we are writing to share a key development as we move forward into 2022. Three years ago, we announced Siobhan Dullea as Chief Executive Officer of MassChallenge after serving two years as Chief Operating Officer with the organization. Since her appointment, Siobhan has led the organization through a time of profound global uncertainty and disruption without hesitation and always in pursuit of MassChallenge’s mission to equip bold entrepreneurs to solve massive challenges. Her leadership has been bold and exceptional.

Today, we are announcing that Siobhan has made the difficult personal decision to step down as MassChallenge Chief Executive Officer in order to care for her mother who requires full-time support. For those of us who have also cared for ailing family members, we are both empathetic and supportive. Those of you who know Siobhan’s commitment to MassChallenge, know how excruciating this move is.

While Siobhan’s decision is unexpected, we are prepared. Cait Brumme, formerly Executive Vice President for Global Acceleration and Community, has been unanimously approved to step in as acting Chief Executive Officer per Siobhan’s transition plan and recommendation. The Board and MassChallenge leadership team are enthusiastically in support.

Cait has deep knowledge of MassChallenge, its mission, its operations, and its extraordinary global community of innovators. She has played a critical role internally and externally in shaping MassChallenge’s second decade and is deeply committed to MassChallenge’s unique vision for an even stronger future through collaborative innovation. Cait is experienced, talented, and energized to lead.

This is a moment where we will embrace the notion of change as an opportunity, if not an accelerant. We remain on an urgent journey to build a global network for innovators to unlock the power of entrepreneurship and drive social and economic progress. We remain committed to doing this work with and through the power of MassChallenge’s global community.

We thank you for your continued support.
