MassChallenge Switzerland

Since 2016, MassChallenge Switzerland has been a leader in helping startups across Europe grow their businesses by accelerating 396 startups across multiple industries that have raised more than $318M in funding. 

In addition to the early-stage startup accelerator, which accepts startups from any industry, MassChallenge Switzerland has expanded its offerings to accelerate innovation in the food sector with an industry-specific track for early-stage startups as part of the 2021 accelerator. This also includes a challenge program matching later-stage startups with corporate partners in the food industry.

  • Switzerland 2021 finalist Proeon Foods has raised $2.4M for their mission to make food that is healthier, tastier and more sustainable, for the good of the people and the planet. This new funding will allow to accelerate the development of their innovative plant based proteins that have a superior nutritional, functional and sensory profile. Read more >>
  • Switzerland 2021 finalist Oxyle has raised over CHF 3.2M in non-dilutive funding from several highly competitive grants and awards. Oxyle’s technology for efficient and sustainable wastewater treatment has already attracted global pilot customers. This new investment will be used to accelerate market-entry, by upscaling catalyst production, for on-site piloting, product development, and certification of their wastewater treatment technology. Sustainable Food Systems Industry Track

Operating as part of the core MassChallenge Switzerland accelerator program, select early-stage startups will receive additional specialized support and resources. The track brings together the largest multi-national food corporations, world-class mentorship from food experts, and tailored curriculum focused on sustainability, food, and packaging to accelerate the impact of production, distribution, packaging, and food disposal startups.

Startups interested in participating in the track are encouraged to apply via the 2021 MassChallenge Switzerland accelerator application, which will open on January 20, 2021. 

Sustainable Food Systems Challenge

The Sustainable Food Systems Challenge identifies later-stage startups or scaleups and matches them with a MassChallenge partner to accelerate innovation in the food sector. Selected startups will work directly with key stakeholders within a global food corporate where they’ll get access to co-development opportunities, product validation, customer connections, strategic investments, or advisor introductions. Startups with a prototype or working proof of concept are encouraged to apply by January 15, 2021 at 23:59 CET.
